News from the Library for 6/29/09
The Summer Reading Program is half over all ready! Our mad scientists have learned that sometimes the hypothesis doesn’t work, and sometimes the hypothesis is correct but the experiment doesn’t work. Probably the most important concept they’ve learned to date is that if it doesn’t work (and you really want it to), change one of the variables and try again!
Congratulations to our May Avid Readers, who include Elizabeth Harper, Abigail Harper, Quinn Owens, Nathan Cairns, Jack Sinks, Sydney Sinks, Daniel Cokel, Chris Dawdy, Beth Seets, and Tommy Wilson.
Coming events at the library include:
- Summer Reading Program will be held on Wednesdays, from 10:15 to 10:45 for preschool through 2nd grades, and from 11:00 to 12:00 for 3rd through 6th grades. The remaining dates are July 8, and 15. Our theme this year is Mad (but Creative and Brilliant) Scientists!
- July 4th—Happy Independence Day! The library will be closed.
- Tuesday, July 21--Avid Reader Club Party from 6:30 to 7:00 (by invitation only!)
- Saturday, July 25—Brighton Library Book Club, discussing The Painted House by John Grisham
- Sunday, August 9—Back-to-School Extravaganza, from 2:00 to 3:30.
Many thanks to Paul Lariviere, Rosemary Schoeberle, and all the folks who prefer to remain anonymous and have made donations to the library.
