News from the Library for 1/7/10
Attention all residents of the Village of Brighton! If you don’t have a Brighton Memorial Library card, we REALLY need for you to get one! We are anticipating being able to request funding for various types of activities through grant requests, and believe that our requests will be given higher priority with a larger number of patrons. At present, 748 Brighton residents have library cards. According to the last census, which was completed in 2000, there are 2,196 residents in Brighton, which is a bit higher than the number of Brighton library cards out there! At this point, we are appealing to the residents of the Village, since there is no additional charge for those folks—who already pay library fees on their property taxes—though we would be happy to issue cards to any resident of the Southwestern School District. Out of town fees are $43 per year, for all members of a family living in the same household. We also offer a scholarship program for students outside of town who are eligible for free and/or reduced breakfast and lunch at school. Their parents need to get a copy of the approval form from the school office, bring it to the library, and a card will be issued.
Coming events at the library include:
