October 2, 2008 Meeting Report
Present: Sheila Wilkie, President; Meridel Buscher, Vice President; Carolyn Kelly, Secretary; Kathy Bray; and Chris Dawdy, Head Librarian.
Minutes from the September meeting were read and approved.
Financial Reports were read and approved.
Head Librarian’s report indicated that during the month of September, we had 1313 patrons in the library; 1 adult program with 5 adults in attendance; 9 children’s programs with 21 children in attendance; 1536 items checked out; 93 items added to the shelves, with 15,634 items in the inventory; 274 patrons using the computers; 762 in-town patrons; and 311 out-of-town patrons.
Monthly bills were reviewed and approved for payment.
Reviewed plans for the Scrapbooking event to be held on Saturday, October 11 at the Municipal Building, from 9 am to 5 pm. Reviewed participation and success of the after school homework help center which is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5:00 at the library. Reviewed plans for the first Lifelong Learners program, which will be a knitting class that will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 pm, on 10/7/08, 11/4/08, 12/2/08, at the library. Made the decision not to reschedule the Fall Carnival until later in the year. Agreed to participate in the community garage sale, which will be held on Saturday, October 4, with plans to sell some display items and furniture that is no longer useful to the library. Agreed to purchase advertising in the Southwestern High School Yearbook, and to work on obtaining old yearbooks for our library reference collection.
