Your Library Card
Getting a card, renewing materials, placing holds, etc.
Who can get a card
Anyone living inside the city limits may apply for and receive a free library card by bringing proof of residency (driver's license, utility bill, tax bill) when making application. If you live outside the city limits of Brighton and within the Southwestern School District, you may purchase a nonresident card for $28.50 per family. Both resident and nonresident cards can be used at the Brighton Memorial Public Library or any public library in the State of Illinois.
The Brighton Memorial Public Library Board has established a "scholarship" program for students who live outside the city limits of Brighton and attend Southwestern Schools. Students may qualify to have the $28.50 nonresident fee waived by providing an approved copy (signed by their school's Principal) of their Free &/or Reduced Breakfast & Lunch Program form. Parents can request a copy of the form from their student's school office.
